Spiritual

There’s much that the Lord has given me to tell you about the importance of being a father, and putting all of my heart, mind, and strength into the role. And also being a husband, and putting my all into that as well. And equally important, being a worker, and giving everything I have to my employer. But before I spend time explaining how much God needs all of us spouses, parents, and workers, let me explain why God did not make me a missionary, and what this means for the vast majority of us believers who don’t have a role that today’s church doesn’t consider “radical”.

Daddy and Daughter

As a follower of Jesus in America today, I oftentimes find myself really desiring that the Gospel be spread to the ends of the earth as proclaimed in the great commission. But having a job and a family to take care of disables me from traveling the world for extended periods of time to take part in the global movement the Holy Spirit is leading in these last days.

I had somewhat of an Elijah experience when God revealed to me that many people including a brother of mine who are active participants in what God is doing in America and overseas through the power of the Gospel to raise up an army of believers from all nations. And God has proven that for those who can’t actively participate by going, are equally honored by God through the financial support and intercession for those God sends.

If you identify with my situation, and would like to join me in financially supporting what the Lord is doing, I encourage you. The Lord will honor it as if it was you who was going, despite the domestic responsibilities keeping you from becoming a missionary. Here’s the thing. There are many functions in the Body of Christ, and for every missionary that God sends forth into the world, there is a “Cyrus” God will raise up to financially support that missionary. If you are searching for a sense of purpose in your day-to-day, 9-5 grind, asking “Lord, why haven’t you sent me in the field? Why do you have me in the office everyday?” I want to encourage you that the Lord needs you there.

God prophesied this centuries ago through His prophet Isaiah, regarding His anointed one Cyrus in chapter 45, verses 3-4:

3 I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden riches of secret places,
That you may know that I, the LORD,
Who call you by your name,
Am the God of Israel.

4 For Jacob My servant’s sake,
And Israel My elect,
I have even called you by your name;
I have named you, though you have not known Me.

In other words, God is going to put money into the hands of His people, all for the sake of His children and His people. It’s a lie from Satan to say that our financial support of a missionary is not equally honored by God, as the missionary being out there in the field. There is only one Gospel, with many parts that have to be played in order for it to be effectively communicated. Every missionary in the world would not be able to be a missionary without God’s children being faithful through their prayers, and through their giving.

It would be like a Ferrari with no engine: no one may be able to see us when we go to PayPal.com to donate money to a ministry like JesusPower.tv. We must stop falling for the world’s version of God’s anointing as being exclusive to ministering in a visible way. The truth is that 90% of the things God wants us to do, we get no worldly credit for doing – no one sees it and pats us on the back.

But God does. And He is raising up the majority of His people who feel like “sideliners” just because they aren’t a traveling missionary healing the sick of all of their diseases. God may indeed call us to this duty one day. But until then, we still have a part to play. And all of the parts working together is what will expedite the coming of our Lord, and afford the people that Jesus purchased with His blood the chance to hear the life-saving message of the cross.

God gave us normal jobs in order to earn income that would support His missionaries in the establishment of His Kingdom. As it’s being built right before our eyes, while we may not have the time to “lay the bricks on the wall,” we can bring water and food to those who are. While we may not have the ability to preach the gospel to thousands, we can support those who God has granted that ability to do so through our giving.

I pray that you are encouraged to play an active role after watching this video. It’s not time to sit on the sidelines anymore because we can’t be missionaries. God knows the situations we’re in and the responsibilities we have – He gave them to us! We’re all one body, and it’s time to play our part!!
